Practical Ways to Improve Website Speed and Mobile Usability
Small, focused changes — from image sizes to tap targets — can make your website feel noticeably faster and easier to use.
Right-size your images
Oversized images are one of the most common causes of slow pages. Export images at the size they are displayed, use modern formats where your platform supports them, and lazy-load images further down the page.
Limit third-party scripts
Chat widgets, trackers and embedded feeds each add weight. Review what is installed and remove anything that no longer earns its place.
Design for thumbs
Buttons and links should be large enough to tap comfortably, with enough space between them to avoid mis-taps. Keep the main action within easy reach.
Readable text on small screens
Use a comfortable base font size, sufficient contrast and short line lengths. Avoid text embedded in images, which cannot reflow on mobile.
Test on real devices
Browser previews help, but nothing replaces checking your site on an actual phone over a typical connection.
